What was to be a celebration of the heroes who lost their lives in the "Biafra"struggle turned out to be death for the many as some Biafrans agitators were being gunned down at a Catholic Church in Eke Nkpor, Idemilii-North of Anambra State.
A visibly angry resident said, "We are once again witnessing another level of impunity and gross violation of human right by the combined forces of the Nigerian army, Navy and police".
According to the eyewitness, alleged soldiers came inside a Catholic Church in the early hours of Monday and some people who sought refuge at St. Francis church in preparation for the solidarity protest were murdered in cold blood while asleep.

Heroes day is an event instituted by the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, to remember those fallen heroes who died during the civil war and those that are still dying till date in the course of the restoration of Biafra.
